Welcome to Dreams Come True, an organization unlike any other of its kind. As the First Coast’s only locally based nonprofit dedicated to granting dreams for children with life-threatening illnesses, Dreams Come True has granted more than 3,000 dreams for children battling life-threatening illnesses in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.
Established in 1984, Dreams Come True has been blessed to create unforgettable memories and indescribable joy.
Dreams provide brave children and their families with a momentary reprieve from the rigors of medical treatment often associated with life-threatening illnesses. A dream temporarily removes the child from doctor visits, hospital stays, tests and needles and brings laughter, joy and childhood to the forefront. Dreams give the children and their families memories to carry them through the rough times and smiles to last a lifetime. Dreams bring hope and the promise of tomorrow.
Joy comes to dreamers in many forms: a trip to Walt Disney World, cruises on the high seas, swimming with dolphins, shopping trips, meeting celebrities, seeing snow, or catching waves in Hawaii. Each dream is special, and one of a kind.
Many medical professionals have attested that a dream dramatically impacts a child’s attitude. Often, it strengthens a child’s determination to undergo difficult treatment.
All children between the ages of 2 1/2 and 18 who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and either live or are treated in Northeast Florida or Southeast Georgia are eligible for a dream. Children must be referred by their physician and have all activities approved. Please visit our referral page for more information on referring a child.
Dreams Come True is also proud in its dedication to apply 100% of all donations, unless otherwise designated by the donor, directly toward dreams. This is made possible by the support of our Board of Directors, Program Sponsors, Program Contributors and donors who make unrestricted donations. Unrestricted donations are used for administrative costs or dream expenses, as deemed necessary.
Dreams Come True is NOT affiliated with any national wish-granting organization. We have only one office, located in Southpoint Business Park at 6803 Southpoint Parkway. This permits us to best serve the children of our community with all monies being dispersed locally.
